If you want to have your blog working properly and fully functional, you should choose suitable plugins for it. Example your blog is about travel or photo album then you will need some plugins about photo slideshow or photo gallery to make it more professional. 1. There are 2 methods to install a new plugin on WordPress blog
1.1. Install a plugin that is available on WordPress
It’s likely when you install a theme on WordPress blog. Plugins that are available on WordPress are usually free for use. You just need to find a suitable one for your blog and install it. To do this, just simply login to your Admin dashboard and do some steps below
1. Login to your Admin dashboard with your username + password
2. Go to Plugins -> Add New as the image below
3. You see a lot of free plugins on the page. Some basic and popular plugins you need to install first such as Askimet, Yoast SEO, Jetpack, Google XML Sitemaps and much more. Type the name of the plugin in the text box and then press Enter. As an example on the image below, I’m searching for JetPack plugin to install.
4. To install the plugin you select, just simply click on the Install button and then click on the Activate button to active it.
That’s all. It’s very basic and easy to do. Now you know how to install a plugin on WordPress blog. Your plugin has been installed successfully. And the next step is configuring that plugin if you want.
1.2. Install a plugin by uploading a plugin .ZIP file
You use this method when you receive the plugin in the ZIP file from another guy. If you buy plugins from the marketplace such as Envato, you also receive the ZIP file from them. To install the plugin from file, just simply do some steps below
1. Login to your Admin dashboard with your username + password
2. Go to Plugins -> Add New as the image below
3. Choose Upload Plugin at the top left of the page
4. Choose the plugin in ZIP file format from your computer to upload. Then press Install Now button to continue
5. After installing successfully, you need to activate it in order to use. Press “Activate Plugin” button to activate the plugin.
Finally, you have the plugin works properly on your blog.

After installing the plugin and activate it, you need to go to that plugin’s setting page and config some factors. You can also install some more plugins and test them all to choose a good one to use. Combine some good plugins will help your blog more professional and more effective.
