If you still don’t know about domain privacy, you can read this post first What is Domain Privacy and Why should you need it?
1. Introduction
The job of finding out who registered a domain can be very easy. Sometimes, you just need to go to that domain name and see the contact information at the homepage, it’d already listed there for everyone who wants to get in touch with the owner. However, sometimes this can be impossible and you can not find their information anywhere on the internet. This depends on the domain name owner whether they used a Whois privacy protection or not.
The ICANN’s policy states that you need to use your real information like your name, phone number, and address. But I see that many people don’t want to show their personal information to the eye of an internet or to their competitors. Hence, in order to resolve this problem, almost domain name registrars offer a Whois privacy protection service for an additional fee. It’s just a small fee besides the domain name price. It’s usually from $1 – $5/year depending on each registrar. But today, I see that some domain registrars offer this protection service for free like NameSilo and NameCheap.
When using this protection service, your real contact information will be replaced with the registrar’s information. So that, it’s much harder to find out the domain contact owner if it’s being used this service. In many cases, you can not find out about it.
Here below I’ve introduced to you guys some ways to find out these contact information
