GoDaddy to begin masking some Whois information through Port 43

GoDaddy sent out a notification to their customers today informing them that it will begin masking some Whois information when it is asked for through Port 43 Whois lookups. Typically, port 43 is utilized for bulk Whois lookups and is the numbers of the Whois spammers get their information.

So that, the registrar will start masking a registrant’s given name, surname, E-mail and contact number.
It’s important to keep in mind that these details will still be readily available if you go through GoDaddy’s web-based Whois. It will also be offered for individuals who have actually whitelisted Port 43 gain access to with GoDaddy. Customers can choose to opt-out of having their personal details masked.
